THE STOREHOUSE / BRIDAL SUITE
The oldest current building on Sandtorgholmen is the storage cage. It is the only building that has survived the four fires that have been on Sandtorgholmen. The legend says it was hand-laid and dates from a story in the early 1800s when there was a famine in Norway and large parts of the world in general. The wealth was then great on Sandtorgholmen itself. Rasmus Christensen's housewife, Maren Marie, then kindly distributed food to "Almuen", but it was a Finnkjerring who she was not allowed to feed because she was magical. Maren Marie felt sorry for the old woman and also gave her food behind her husband's back. Finnkjerringa was then moved and then came with the statement; there has been a large fire on the islet, but there will be three more fires, and this storage cage will be the only one that will not perish.
The legend is currently correct. There were three fires afterwards, the last in 1916, and no one can properly understand that the storehouse did not burn down either because it was at the core of all other buildings that burned, only a little brown on all the walls. Today we have rehabilitated it into a beautiful "bridal suite", where we hope it brings happiness to the journey of the newlyweds. At the time of writing, Stabburets has visited 93 bridal couples - and all are still married!
